Manu Fernández is a director, screenwriter and producer.
His first experience as a feature film director came in 2004 with the film "Recambios", which premiered in the Official Selection of Zonazine at the Málaga Film Festival and was also presented at the Seville European Film Festival. That same year, the film won Best First Feature at MadridImagen. It was followed in 2011 by the feature film "Sin cobertura", which received the José Luis Borau Award at the Zaragoza Film Festival.
In 2023/24, he wrote and directed "Ella es una sensación" and "La ambición de Marie", two suspense short films with a distinctive and innovative voice. His works have received several recognitions, including the Best Open Narrative Award at the NYU Sport Film Festival in New York and the Best Short Film Award at the Clown International Film Festival in Paris, as well as several Honorable Mentions and more than sixty selections and nominations at international film festivals such as BFI Flare in London and the Chicago Latino Film Festival. "La ambición de Marie" was a candidate for the 2025 Academy Awards and the Forqué Awards.
In December 2025, he completed the shooting of the feature film "Las noches del día", a genre film that combines psychological thriller with fantastic elements. Since 2022, he has been a member of the Spanish Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences.
