Jean Wyllys was born on March 10, 1974 in Alagoinhas, Bahia, Brazil.

He is a teacher.

After the election of Jair Bolsonaro and the ascension of a far-right wave in Brazil, Jean and his family received many death threats which led to his resignation from his third term as Deputy on January 2019. He now resides in Berlin, Germany.

The first openly homosexual congressman in Brazil's history.
