Biography

Lee Yao was born on September 3, 1922 in Shanghai, China. She was an actress, known for Ge mi xiao jie (1959), Ru shi jia ren (1960) and The White Countess (2005). She was married to Huang Baoluo. She died on July 19, 2019 in Hong Kong.

Sister of composer Min Yao.

Although her music was popular mostly in Asia, one of the Yao Li songs, "Rose, Rose, I Love You, " from 1940, was recorded in an English language version by the pop artist Frankie Laine in 1951 and rose to number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart of the time.
