Biography

Zeruya Shalev was born on April 13, 1959 in Kvutzat Kinneret, Israel. She is an actress and writer, known for Love Life (2007), Best Friends (2006) and Librairie Mollat (2009). She is married to Eyal Meged. They have one child. She was previously married to Danny Brom.

Maria Schrader tried to help her find a director for the movie version of Shalev's novel "Love Life", _Liebesleben (2006)_, but finally the German actress decided to do it herself.

She was severely injured by a terror attack in Jerusalem, when a bus exploded next to her on 29 January 2004. She had undergone extensive recovery for over a year.

I pay a lot of attention to style. Maybe it's because I started as a poet, and when I moved to prose it was very important to me not to leave poetry completely. This is the voice that comes from me, inside.

Writing for me is not a therapy. It's bigger than that. It's my destiny, and it's very demanding work. It needs a lot of work even though I enjoy every minute of it. But one of my biggest wishes is that my books will be therapeutic for other people. I know that it happens from time to time. For me that's the best compliment.
