Ryan began in the entertainment industry when he was 6 years old as a stage actor, he studied stage and film at in his early years to the point of nausea to all around him. He became a professional actor at the age of 17 cast in "Colors in the Dark." At the Great Canadian Theatre Company. After that and even though the director said "you will never make it as an Actor" Ryan did not believe them, and he was still cast in several plays and traveled all over Canada performing on stage. But his heart was in film and he had minor...very minor (what’s smaller than minor?) success being cast in the Comedy network show "Dick Patterson Private Dick" and in a few short films that he is unsure if they ever saw the light of day. He could not afford film school, so he started working on set as BG in Toronto and Montreal, when on set he listened to the calls, just to learn what those strange words were that crew shouted to each other and what exactly those words meant...to this day he’s not sure, but it could just be that no one will ever understand Grips, but other Grips. As he watched and he learned protocols, etiquette, and what everyone’s jobs on set were. He learned that every position in production was important, even if some departments (camera) disagree that more than their department is important. When Ryan turned 25, he moved to mecca of film and TV a land called Vancouver there he was to pursue a very successful acting career...he’s still waiting for the "successful" part to start. But In 2004 he was cast in The Chronicles of Riddick as an alien creature called "The Lensor" and his love of film was fanned even though he has no credit for this on IMDB, never had he seen a set with such resources, such famous and talented actors, such spectacle and wondrous sets, then such poor box office return. Eventually Ryan stopped being young and cute to casting directors and the casting directors stopped seeing him as "quirky, slightly Handsome best friend."," Interesting Character Actor type.", "Thin maybe handsome Nerd." and they started to look at him and see "Big homeless guy", or "Big Drug addict", or "Tiny Trucker". He discovered a passion for directing, then discovered what a cliche is. He wanted to learn how to be the best most efficient of all directors. Ryan then found more success writing and directing, and even won a spot in the Crazy 8's in 2013 with his film "Manstruation" which he Directed and Co-wrote and directed another short "Hope is Lost" in 2024 for the s@%ts and Giggles festival which in the film short form qualified for their "Bat$#& Crazy" part of their festival. Soooooooo, after he maxed two credit cards and burned through his saving, almost blew up his long-term relationship he needed to...what is it? What do the kids today call it? It’s on the tip of my tongue...OH YEAH, he needed MONEY (been a while since any of us have seen it, it’s easy to forget the name.)!! So, Ryan learned took all the courses and became a PA in the locations department, He has Prep lead, and Key’d and in turn questioned all his life choices and questioned the existence of his feet still being there after working 20 hrs. and getting 30,000 steps in a day. Ryan to this day, moment, hour, second, continues to pursue Acting in any format wherever they will hire him, he even once played a block of cheese and the reviews said he was very Gouda. Ryan is a quick study and understands actor/performers as he has studied with some of the most noted acting coaches in North America, he knows their mindset, for example, most actors like to wander around, some like "fresh air", and all actors love free stuff, especially swag bags. Ryan loves the film industry, is always striving to be a better team player, a better leader, try continue learn (Blew that last one), and working his butt off (figuratively and literally as the strike made him chunky, plump, well rested, kind of bouncy.) to make every production the most enjoyable, believes if we all work together, we all rise together. He is currently like every one in film, working on a screen play.
