- Simon Wilkinson is a British ambient musician and composer for documentaries and films. Born in 1972 and raised in the south of England, he started writing music for picture in 2001 with his first works including several short films followed by the 2004 feature film score for The Club (2004) starring Treva Etienne.
He has since written music and soundtracks for many documentaries, films, trailers and time lapse films, notably working with photographer Randy Halverson on the acclaimed series of Dakotalapse time lapse films. He has also provided music for basketball team the L.A. Lakers as well as providing trailer and promotional music for many well known brands including Subway, Fox, Motorola and ABC.
As well as writing music for visual media he has also released several ambient albums in the space music genre for general release.
His music has an atmospheric and textural quality, often based around ethereal visual themes of landscapes and outer space, and has been described as cinematic, minimalist, modern, organic, dark and dramatic.
He runs his own music production company Thebluemask and lives in England with his partner and children.
