He came back to France just before WWII to work in his father's company. He was a leader in Limoges of the Resistance, arrested, sent to Buckenwald concentration camp. Liberated, he met in France Jacqueline who was at Ravensbruck concentration camp.They married and had 2 boys. Kessel met him in 1956 preparing La Passe du diable. Charles was then the Air France representative in Kabul and helped Kessel on his movie.
