Biography

Stacy Rock

Overview

  • Height
    5′ 6″ (1.68 m)

Mini bio

  • Originally from a very, very small town in Montana (her entire high school had 30 students and her jogging partner was an antelope), Stacy Rock moved to New York City after college where she became the youngest piano player/singer at the famous Monkey Bar in Midtown Manhattan. She strayed from the ritzy bench of her baby grand into the famous rock clubs of New York City, having now played her original music in almost every club in NYC, including the extinct CBGBs. She has a unique style of writing which garnered attention, and outstanding press. Cord Magazine's Andy Scheffler described her debut album as a "gorgeous album" and her live performances have been quoted as "unequivocally enchanting" by NYC zine Jezebel Music. Stacy is a two time ASCAP Plus Award winner for her songwriting and was selected as a songwriter for the famed Sunday Writer's Night at the Blue Bird Cafe in Nashville, TN.

Stacy received a BFA in Acting from Boston University and studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London. A few of her acting credits include shows at Barrington Stage Company, North Shore Music Theater, The Voice of America Theater with Bill Pullman and Boston Playwrights Theater. She has starred in several films including the indie hits, "Blue Ruin" (winner of the Cannes FIPRESCI Prize) and "Murder Party" (Magnolia pictures and Slamdance Film Festival winner). Culture blog Medialysis voted Stacy one of the two Funniest Femme of 2007 (the other being Amy Poehler) for her role in Murder Party.

Stacy currently plays music throughout the Los Angeles area, continues to develop new works of theater and film and recently began composing for film soundtracks. She has also ventured into the world of full length book narration.
