She was a witness at the trial of Japanese Gen. Tomoyuki Yamashita on November 12, 1945. Yamashita was charged with war crimes because he was in charge of Japanese forces in the Philippines who, as a matter of policy, committed atrocities on a regular basis against civilians and raped and murdered hundreds of thousands of them. He was convicted on all charges and hanged.
