Demba Sene

Demba Sene is a presenter on Seereer Radio and The Seereer Resource Centre (SRC) and Seereer Radio Podcast (2016). He and his colleague and director, Tamsier Joof Aviance were the two original presenters on Seereer Radio, and the longest serving presenters on the station.
Demba joined the Seereer Resource Centre (SRC) team in 2013 as Head of Seereer Rural Development (Senegal), SRC Researcher, and Saafi-Saafi Translator. He is a member of the Seereer-Saafi ethnic group. He was one of the original members of the Seereer Resource Centre's research team to work on and expand the SRC Collection through its ambitious January 2015 project - where the organisation's field researchers where sent throughout Seereer country in the Senegambia region to interview Seereer elders, historians, religious/spiritual leaders, genealogists, etc., and document and preserve their knowledge before it is lost to history. That project was led by Tamsier, with Demba acting as his second in command. It was the accumulation of such valuable resources which provided the impetus for The Cosaan Seeereer Show, and The Seereer Religion and Culture Show - on Seereer Radio. The former is about Seereer history, whilst the latter is about Seereer spirituality/religion (A fat Roog).
Demba and Tamsier were the first to present and broadcast live on Seereer Radio airwaves during the official launch of the station on 5 January 2016 at midnight (GMT). The former was based in Dakar, Senegal, and the latter, in London, UK - making it a telephone conversation between the two presenters on different time zones.
As well as broadcasting, Demba is also a businessman and had been a language teacher for many years. He had also collaborated with NGOs over the years to bring about rural development in his village.
Demba is fluent in several languages including Saafi-Saafi, Wolof, French, English, and some Japanese. In some of the old broadcasts, he can be heard speaking and translating in multiple languages.
