IMDbProStarmeterSee rank
Tika Datta Pant was a highly respected English teacher, principal, social worker, and educator from Nepal, known for his lifelong dedication to education and community development. He was the father of Nepali-British actor Kumud Pant and the husband of actress and teacher Bidhyabati Pant.

Pant was born in Teraute village in the Dang district of Nepal. From an early age, he demonstrated strong academic ability, particularly in the English language. He later completed a Bachelor of Arts degree and began his teaching career with a passion for learning and knowledge sharing. Before fully committing to school education, he also served as an English teacher at Mahendra Multiple Campus in Dang, contributing to higher education in the region.

He later joined Rajhena High School in Dang, where he worked both as an English teacher and later served for around 30 years as a school principal. Throughout his career, he remained deeply connected to classroom teaching, especially in English, while also leading the school with strong discipline and vision. Under his leadership, the school developed high academic standards and a culture of respect and learning. He was widely admired for his honesty, dedication, and commitment to students’ success. During his career, he was honored with a Best and Honest Teaching Award presented by the King, recognizing his outstanding contribution to education. Among the students he taught and guided were his own children, including Kumud Pant and Janaki Pant.

Beyond his professional career, Pant was deeply involved in social work and community service. He actively supported people in his village and surrounding areas, earning admiration as both an educator and a compassionate community leader. He also had a creative side and expressed himself through writing poems.

Pant married Bidhyabati Pant at the age of 30. His wife later became a primary school teacher and the founder of Teraute Primary School in Dang. He consistently supported her efforts in education and community service. Together, they built a large and loving family with ten children-two sons and eight daughters.

He strongly believed in the power of education and inspired all his children to pursue learning, discipline, and personal growth. In 1998, he supported his son Kumud Pant in traveling to the United Kingdom for further studies and opportunities. His daughter Janaki Pant later became a talented actress.

After retiring from his long and dedicated career, Pant spent much of his time in his hometown of Teraute, living a simple and respected life within the community.

Tika Datta Pant passed away in 2000, leaving behind a lasting legacy of educational excellence, leadership, integrity, and social service. He is remembered by former students and community members in Dang as an inspiring principal, devoted English teacher, and a guiding figure who shaped the lives of many young people.
