Healy Lange

Biography

Healy Lange

Overview

  • Height
    5′ 8″ (1.73 m)

Mini bio

  • Actor and writer Healy Lange carries storytelling in her blood and has spent a career proving it.

Rattigan, her original surname, Healy is the great-niece of Sir Terence Rattigan, the celebrated British playwright and screenwriter whose works, The Deep Blue Sea, The Browning Version, Ross, defined a generation of English drama.

Lange began performing on New York stages with Playwrights Horizons, The Duplex, Impact Theatre, and the New York Comedy Club, eventually distilling her own life into an autobiographical one-woman show compelling enough to carry her to Los Angeles, where she studied screenwriting under the legendary Syd Field.

What followed was a career spanning nearly every corner of the screen. She has appeared in off-Broadway productions and across HBO, Showtime, Netflix, FX, Fox, ABC, and Amazon Prime. A recent appearance on GBH's Stories from the Stage has surpassed 311,000 views and climbing. Her directors include Lee Daniels, Jeremy Webb, Gail Mancuso, the Russo Brothers, the Duffer Brothers, and Anu Valia.

On the page, she is equally at home. Her short film Orphan Doll, which she wrote, swept more than 50 awards on the festival circuit and is now in development as a TV series. Her YA drama Letters to Addy, a quarter-finalist in the Big Apple Film Festival Screenplay Competition, is also in development with significant attachments.

Terence Rattigan once wrote that the best drama comes from the collision of the personal and the universal. In Lange's current work, onstage, on screen, and on the page, that collision is unmistakable.
