Biography

Stephen Cleobury was born on December 31, 1948 in Bromley, Kent, England, UK. He is known for Joy (2015), Martyrs Lane (2021) and Home on Sunday (1979). He was married to Emma Disley, Emma and Penny Holloway. He died on November 22, 2019 in York, North Yorkshire, England, UK.

He was awarded the CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) before being awarded Knight Bachelor of the Order of the British Empire in the 2019 Queen's Birthday Honours List for his services to Choral Music. He is the Director of Music at King's College in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.

Elder brother of Nicholas Cleobury.

He studied piano and was a chorister at Worcester Cathedral before becoming an organ scholar at St. John's College, Cambridge. Previously he was master of music of Westminster Cathedral, a rare appointment for an Anglican at the Catholic church.
