Biography

Later moved to Kaunas to study at the then Kaunas Institute of Physical Education. There, he chose basketball, played the game for a time and began coaching while still in his third year of studies.

During Lithuania's interwar independence, he had lost his mother while taking his school-leaving exams.

From 2003 to 2011, he served as president of the Lithuanian Basketball Federation (LKF).

From 1956, he worked as a coach in Birzai. He later served as chairman of the local sports committee and as a school principal, while coaching district basketball teams and Lithuanian youth selections.
