Biography

Graeme Rooney is a Scottish actor/writer/voiceover.

He trained at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (formerly RSAMD) and on graduating made his screen debut in gritty Scottish drama 'Taggart'. More edgy roles followed in hit TV shows 'Ashes to Ashes', 'Rebus', 'Case Histories' and 'Skins'. In 2009 he co-wrote, created and starred as one third of the sketch show, 'The Ginge, The Geordie and The Geek', which following sell out Edinburgh festivals and critical acclaim was commissioned for a series on BBC2 which aired in 2013. Following the success of the show he went on to appear in hit comedies 'Doc Martin', 'Bad Education' and 'Sex Education'.

Throughout his career Graeme has appeared in many theatre productions working at world renowned theatre's such as The Globe, The Royal Court and The Barbican, but most recently starring in the West End, in Olivier Award winning comedy hit, 'The Play That Goes Wrong'.

Following the success of his BBC 2 comedy series he continued to write and individually he had writing commissioned for BBC Radio 4, BBC Radio Scotland, and for Comedy Central.

In the feature film 'Ashes' Graeme plays the lead role as the troubled, Donnie Mckinley, newly released from prison struggling to readjust to life and trying to atone for his mistakes.
