Biography

Hungary-born Martin had been trained as an acrobat as a youth. He started the knife-throwing act with his wife, Elizabeth, who worked with him for 30 years. In the last years of his life, his daughter joined him in the act.

Martin Collins died on the night of 27-28 September 1967 at the age of 52 in an Ottawa hospital, Illinois, of injuries. On 27 September, he was driving, with his wife and daughter as passengers, en route to a theater engagement to Davenport, Iowa. He lost control of his car and it overturned, his wife and daughter received minor injuries.

In 1949, Martin Collins appeared at a command performance for Queen Elizabeth.

Martin Collins was born Márton Rasics in Budapest, Hungary, in June 1914. He was the son of another Márton Rasics, who was a cobbler or shoe maker.

Martin's wife, Elizabeth Veronica Collins, was born Erszebet Bakk in the Hungary on 3 October 1924. Elizabeth died on 12th October 2007.
