Juan Carlos Mercado, professionally known as JC Mercado, is a Mexican award-winning film director, screenwriter, producer, and actor whose work explores emotionally driven storytelling through themes of resilience, identity, grief, and the human experience. His films have earned awards, honorable mentions, nominations, and official selections at international film festivals, establishing him as an emerging voice in contemporary independent cinema.

Among Mercado's most recognized works are the award-winning short film Restablecer, recipient of international festival recognition including Best Original Idea and Honorable Mention; the emotionally resonant award-winning drama Our Melody, which has received multiple official selections at international film festivals; and Inquebrantable, an inspiring film that continues his exploration of hope, perseverance, and the strength of the human spirit. His growing body of work reflects a distinctive cinematic style that blends emotional authenticity with visually driven storytelling.

Mercado is the founder and CEO of Just Cinema Entertainment Studios, an independent production company dedicated to developing original films and audiovisual productions with a strong focus on emotional depth, cinematic innovation, and purpose-driven narratives. Through the studio, he continues to develop new projects for international audiences while expanding his presence within the global independent film community.

He refined his filmmaking vision through studies at the New York Film Academy, complemented by professional acting training at CasAzul Artes Escénicas Argos. He also holds a degree in Business in Communication & Entertainment from Escuela Bancaria y Comercial (EBC), combining creative expertise with a solid foundation in leadership and entertainment management.

Beyond filmmaking, Mercado actively supports philanthropic initiatives through the Centro de Cirugía Especial de México I.A.P., a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing life-changing surgeries for children living in vulnerable circumstances. Through documentary filmmaking, awareness campaigns, and digital media initiatives, he contributes to expanding access to specialized pediatric healthcare while using storytelling as a vehicle for social impact.
