Biography

  • Dimitri Luttrell is an American writer, director, producer, and cinematographer from Columbus, Georgia. Now based in Atlanta, Georgia, Luttrell developed a passion for filmmaking after seeing Godzilla (2014) in theaters, an experience that inspired him to pick up a camera and pursue storytelling through film. He later attended Full Sail University, where his scripts were consistently selected for class projects throughout his tenure, distinguishing him early as a strong creative voice. Following film school, his artistic perspective evolved through a deep appreciation for visual art, particularly the work of Edward Hopper. Paintings such as Nighthawks, Automat, Room in New York, Morning Sun, and New York Movie significantly influenced his approach to composition, mood, and visual storytelling. Drawing even further inspiration from filmmakers Wong Kar Wai and Paul Thomas Anderson, Luttrell’s work is defined by its exploration of mental health, internal conflict, and emotional isolation. His films are noted for their deliberate framing and atmospheric imagery, using visual language to externalize inner turmoil. Deeply personal and introspective, his storytelling reflects both lived experience and a strong foundation in cinematic and fine-art influences. Luttrell is best known for his short films The Party At The End of The World and The Jewels, both of which earned him multiple accolades including Best Director, Best Writer, Best Film, and Best Cinematography. In 2020, he founded Ghost Productions, a production company created to develop and produce original, director-driven projects.
