Biography

Yakiv Antypenko is a Ukrainian filmmaker, cinematographer, and sound designer (since 2022) based in Slovakia. He received a classical art education, graduating from a five-year art school with a focus on academic painting, drawing, and composition.

For more than twenty years, he has been engaged in the creation of photo and video content. He began his career in photography in 1998, working with analog cameras and various film formats, and later transitioned into video production.

Antypenko worked in television as a cameraman, video editor, and sound designer. For over a decade, he has also produced photo and video content for international stock agencies, broadening his technical and artistic range. He has held several solo photography exhibitions.

Between 2013 and 2015, he independently filmed a documentary about the birdlife of Velykyi Luh National Park in Ukraine. Shot in a strictly protected area with official permission, the film was later screened at festivals and now serves as a scientific document, as the ecosystem it portrayed was subsequently destroyed.

His recent documentary work includes projects filmed in Austria, the Czech Republic, and the Caucasus region, where he focuses on the relationship between people, landscape, and sound. His films often combine observational documentary with a poetic, atmospheric approach.
