According to Central Casting and New Movie Magazine, she was the highest-earning registered film extra of 1935.

Part of her trade secret as an extra was her ability to make and tailor her own clothes, thereby keeping the cost of her wardrobe down. She spent about $20-$30 a month on wardrobe expenses.

One of eleven winners of Paramount's 1932 beauty contest to determine the most shapely figures in Hollywood. The other winners were Mary Ashcraft, Lynn Browning, Nadine Dore, Dorothy Dix, Dorothy Compton, Mary Cooper, Muriel Evans, Gale Ronn, Harriet Matthews and Mary Jane Temple. The judges were Carole Lombard, William C. de Mille and Travis Banton. The prize for all winners was apparently an uncredited group cast appearance in Sinners in the Sun (1932).

Became a naturalized citizen of the United States on August 9, 1935. He acting colleague Dorothy Compton went with her to court to pick up her papers.

I average about $60 a week. That's more than I could earn as a stenographer or a saleslady. I have to keep a complete wardrobe and if I tried to buy from the stores the stars patronize, I'd be perpetually broke. But I make a business of being an extra, and sew my own clothes to save money. I'm going to Europe this summer - and I'll have a bank account left when I get back, too.
