Streaming Stars, Then and Now

Rio Matsumoto was born on October 22, 1982 in Fuchu-shi Tokyo Japan. Her birth name is Chiyo Konno. In 1994 at the age of 11, she was recruited while walking through Harajuku district of Tokyo. She first made her debut under the name Megumi Matsumoto, and starred in many TV drama and commercials during this period. She starred in over 20 commercials ranging from instant noodle to cosmetics. Then in 1999 she announced that she will be retiring so she can attend high school on a non-celebrity status. During this period, she was seen doing part time job at a local super market as an ordinary high school student. In 2002 after her graduation from high school, she made her second debut this time under the name Rio Matsumoto. Since then she's starred in over 20 TV dramas including a role as Reika Ryuzaki in "Esu wo nerae!" which won her critical acclaim for perfect portrayal of this character. Since 2004 she's also been modeling for the fashion magazine "Ray", and also made her debut as a fashion designer in 2007 designing her own line of wedding dresses. Rio Matsumoto is continuing as actress, model, and a fashion designer in her multi-talented career.

She made her debut as a fashion designer in July of 2007, featuring wedding dresses designed by her for White Door corporation.
