Biography

  • Martín Solá was born in Manhattan Hospital in New York City. His parents, both natives of Puerto Rico and graduates of the University of Puerto Rico met for the first time in the Bronx. His father was a former US Army Officer and an electrical engineer, and his mother had begun her career as a nutritionist and dietitian after completing her master's degree at Columbia University.

The family moved to center-city Philadelphia where Martín attended the Girard Academic Music Program, under director Jack Carr, for elementary school and he began his musical life studying violin, music theory, and singing in the choir. His family moved to Florida for his high school years where he became involved in sports, most notably track and wrestling. He graduated from Florida University with a Bachelor of Music Degree, and The University of Illinois with a Master of Music Degree, on music and academic scholarships.

A veteran of the stage, Martín was nominated for Best Actor in a Play by BroadwayWorld for his portrayal of Luís Trescante in "Olives and Blood" at The Connecticut Repertory Theater. He has appeared on Broadway numerous times including Gloria Estefan's "On Your Feet", and Baz Luhrmann's "La Bohème"; and he has received glowing reviews for his theatrical work in many publications across the country.

Martín currently resides in NYC where he has lived for 25 years. He balances his career amid his passions for singing, acting, and teaching. He has worked on 4 short film projects, as well as his first feature film "Ten Minutes to Midnight", all slated to be released in 2020. He is in the process of writing and shooting a series of short films over the next year with his creative collective. When Martín is offstage, he enjoys whipping up creative culinary creations and imaginative cocktails in the kitchen and mentoring his students in order to pay forward what he has learned from his wonderful teachers.
