Mini bio

  • Andrew Byron is a British Actor known for his roles in global blockbusters such as Wonder Woman and Black Widow. Having begun his career on stage opposite Woody Harrelson in 'Night of the Iguana' on London's West End, Andrew shot to US public attention with his break out portrayal of 'Anton' in the Emmy winning BBC series 'Killing Eve'. More roles followed in movies directed by George Clooney (The Monuments Men) and Kenneth Branagh (Jack Ryan) as well as Six Minutes to Midnight opposite Judi Dench & Eddy Izzard. Andrew will soon be seen in the lead role of Caleb in the adventure series 'Mystic Hollow' and in the as yet unannounced new feature from Whamslam Productions.

Andrew was born in Bath, England. The son of two school teachers, he was granted a scholarship to attend a private boys school but he says he never really fitted in and only found meaning in the plays he put on with other boys: almost certainly the reason he became an actor. From there he went to the University of St. Andrews where he earned a master's degree in Russian. Being multi-lingual (he speaks French, Russian and German fluently) has earned him many roles playing foreigners of all descriptions. In fact, whilst it is true that actors mostly don't play themselves, Andrew has taken this even further having only used his own accent once in over 55 screen roles.

Andrew's acting career began on stage but he soon migrated to film and television roles where his language skills were in high demand, especially playing Eastern Europeans of all descriptions. In his career he has played so many Russian 'baddies' in fact, that in 2019 he wrote and performed a hit one man show at the Brighton Fringe called The Good Russian about a Russian man who - unlike most of the Russians on our screens - is actually good. As Andrew says "I wanted to introduce the world to the kind of Russians I know - honest, generous decent people". He revived his show at the Hollywood Fringe in 2025 where it was nominated for a Stephanie Feury Theatre award.

In other notable roles Andrew was the voice and face of Kiril in Battlefield III; he was thrilled to be able to play opposite one of his acting heroes, Peter Capaldi, as Russian General Ilya in Doctor Who and he played the Russian terrorist Pavel Zykov in the final season of Spooks (aka MI5). More recently he was one of the stars of Krishnas: Gurus, Karma, Murder and played the sadistic torturer Movsar Dudaev in Chris Folkens' powerful short 'Pogrom'.

Andrew now lives in Los Angeles with his daughter. He is a keen hiker, carpenter and cyclist.
