- Adrian Turner is known for Film Buff of the Year (1986), The Making of 'the Bridge on the River Kwai' (2000) and The Making of 'Lawrence of Arabia' (2001).
- He was formerly an officer of the British Film Institute and before that, the chief film programmer for the Everyman Cinema, Hampstead, one of London's best-known art-houses. He has also written film criticism for magazines ranging from "Time Out" to the "Radio Times" and has written several books, including a biography of Robert Bolt.
- He has often said that his favourite film ever is "Lawrence Of Arabia" and he wrote a very large book about the making of that film.
