- On taking the name "K.T.": I needed to do something with my name to stick out of the crowd and, as a big PJ Harvey fan, decided to follow her lead.
- A lot of little girls under 10 really like my music and are starting to play guitar. It's a heavy responsibility. If there's a kid in the front row, I definitely curb my usual sailor-esque tones. (2007)
- I came to Bowie (David Bowie) late, and never realised how many singers were trying to be like him, or just one of the characters he'd been.

- It happened once, I saw a cute boy and I was like, 'Do you have a cigarette?' I smoked at the time. Don't smoke anymore. He said, 'Yeah.' I said, 'Actually, I don't want a cigarette, I just wanted to meet you, you're gorgeous.' And I was just so appalled at the whole idea of talking to someone just because they looked nice, and they might be just an idiot. That was my first foray into the one-night-stand and it was terrible.
