Biography

Paul Wellstone was born on July 21, 1944 in Washington, District of Columbia, USA. He was an actor, known for Plan Colombia: Cashing in on the Drug War Failure (2003), Almanac (1984) and Showdown in Seattle: Five Days That Shook the WTO (1999). He was married to Sheila Wellstone. He died on October 25, 2002 in Eveleth, Minnesota, USA.

First elected United States senator from Minnesota in 1990. He served until his death from a plane crash in 2002 during a heated re-election bid against former St. Paul Mayor Norm Coleman. Former Vice-President Walter Mondale replaced Wellstone as the Democratic candidate, and narrowly lost to Coleman.

Father, with Sheila Wellstone, of Marcia Wellstone (1969-2002), David Wellstone and Mark Wellstone, who now co-chairs The Wellstone Action non-profit group.

His wife, Sheila Wellstone, and their daughter, Marcia, were killed in the plane crash which also took his life on October 25, 2002.
