Served with distinction in the United States Marine Corps (USMC),
during the Persian Gulf Incidents of 1987-1988, involving various Iranian
oil platforms. While manning a 50. cal weapon as a fleet Marine, he
engaged an Iranian assault boat attacking the U.S. Naval vessel upon
which he was stationed aboard. Was decorated for his actions under
fire. Also served in extreme sub-zero conditions with a U.S. Marine
mortar unit on the Aleutians Islands.
