Leonard McLeod was born in Berkeley, California, USA, as Leonard Charles McLeod. When his Father became Terminally Ill do to an injury he received in the US Coast Guard his Mother moved their family to Grand Marais Michigan, USA where she had family support. His Mother known in the Day as Maggie played Alto Saxophone for a brief while with Benny Goodman. Although she was offered full time employment with his band she chose to return to Michigan and Raise her two boys, Leonard and his older Brother Bruce. He considers Grand Marais Michigan his home and has a residence in walking distance from Lake Superior. Leonard is a producer known for the Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (2005), and Monster School Animation (2014). Prior to entering the world of entertainment he attended Northern Michigan University in Marquette Michigan where he studied Photography, Film and Criminal Justice. After college he spent a little over 4 years in the US Army where he was decorated for Heroism. Upon his discharge he spent the next 30 years in Law Enforcement in California USA. While working in Law Enforcement he was appointed to state commissions by the California Governor and State Insurance Commissioner. He is a published photographer, published first at age 14 in the local paper he went on to shoot for airshow, wildlife and other magazines and was a published stringer for the Gannett newspapers, he has been also published on NASA's website. He loves nature photography, Astro Photography, shooting pictures of his Dog Curly. You can see some of his photos on Instagram under lmcleod55. He holds two-second degree black belts in Judo and Jujitsu, is an avid firearms shooter and held the expert marksman badge while in the military. During his Law Enforcement career he took several advance marksman courses and has helped teach individuals firearm safety and how to use a firearm. Leonard started his entertainment career (2003) with the fan favorite short film Roddenberry on Patrol (he is a huge Trekkie). His second film The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (2005) won 4 awards, 3 at Screamfest Los Angles and a Saturn Award. Leonard is listed as a trusted advisor to the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror. He was married twice, once to Bernadette Wampler and they had 3 children, his son (Leonard McLeod II also works in the industry as Grip and a Gaffer, he is listed on IMDB as Leonard McLeod II (III). In (1995) he married Jill Ommen and was separated from her in (2007), their final Divorce was granted on the same day and month they were married in (2017). He currently (2016-present) splits his time between Los Angles and Grand Marais Michigan; where he continues to do Professional Photography, produce Films, Television, and other entertainment projects.

Was the public sector labor commissioner for the Ca Commission on Health and Safety and Workers Compensation from 1994-2004 appointed by the governor.

Holds two black belts, one in Judo and one in Jujitsu.

Is a member of the Cowboy Action Shooting Society, and has taught individuals and acting professionals firearms safety and how to shoot.

Loves motorcycles, he did semi-pro motocross for a short time. Has traveled cross country twice on a motorcycle.
