Biography

In 1961 Clauwaert started her career at the then BRT as a presenter of the programme "Zoeklicht".

During her career Regine Clauwaert presented programmes such as: Tienerklanken, Tenuto, Zeskamp, 100,000 or nothing (1968: hostess), the National Lottery draw, Games without Frontieres and the Flemish cultural programme "Kunstzaken".

Regine Clauwaert was barely 19 years old when she made her debut on the then-BRT in 1961. The young Clauwaert was immediately asked to present the cultural program "Zoeklicht" (Searchlight). Because of this, she was sometimes somewhat derisively called the "Zoeklicht = "Searchlight Woman.".

She co-hosted the talk show "Zuid-Noord" (South-North), with Dutchman Koos Postema. This also made her popular in the Netherlands.

In the 1960s, television presenters in Flanders traditionally became "stars." With a little imagination, the television in Flanders at that time had the aura of the silver screen. People simply stayed home to watch a television program and admire the presenter. Whoever played the leading role became a star. It was that simple. Regine also became a star, but later, through her long career, she transformed into the face of public broadcasting. Or at the very least, one of its ambassadors.
