Biography

David Noakes is a screen executive who has extensive credits and experience working in film and television across producing, financing, production, distribution and exhibition. David works as an Executive Producer for drama and documentary films, and consults for the completion guarantor, First Australian Completion Bond Company (FACB), independent production companies and screen agencies. He continues his role as an independent Committee Member of the Canberra Screen Fund.

From 2008 to 2024 David worked as Production Executive at FACB, working alongside Principals Corrie Soeterboek and Antonia Batsakis. During that period, David was Guarantor and Risk Manager for more than 100 films, TV series and documentaries. From 1998 to 2007, he worked in film & television production, initially working in sales and distribution producing the three-part series Shadow of the Shark - about the life and work of filmmakers Ron and Valerie Taylor. In the early 2000's he oversaw the restoration of many notable Australian feature films for the National Film and Sound Archive - including The Sentimental Bloke (1919) and Wake In Fright (1976).

From 1993 to 1998, he first entered the world of film finance working as an Investment Manager for the Australian Film Finance Corporation in documentaries, and later in drama feature films and television.

Prior to his work in film financing, David produced feature documentaries, series and drama, including the award-winning film How The West Was Lost, digitally restored and re-released in 2023. In 1990 he was awarded a prestigious Australian Film Commission/ABC Documentary Fellowship and went on to produce and direct the film Bigger Than Texas.
