Biography

John Eimen is best known as Cadet Monk Roberts on the children's sitcom, "McKeever And The Colonel" and for featured roles on "Have Gun-Will Travel", "The Untouchables", "The Rebel", "The Twilight Zone", "Leave It To Beaver" and "Petticoat Junction", among others. He was also the model for an iconic "Milk Mustache" ad that appeared in the Feb. 2, 1959 issue of LIFE magazine long before the National Dairy Council's "Got Milk?" campaign.

His active acting years were from 1956 to 1969, beginning with appearances on "Ozzie And Harriett", "Bachelor Father" and the very first episode of "Leave It To Beaver". His final appearance was a small part in the first episode of "Love-American Style".

Although he continued getting small parts in his teens, his interest turned to music in high school and thereafter. He performed in garage bands and later in a popular supper club trio in L.A. and Beverly Hills.

In 1974 he moved to Japan where he taught English for the next ten years and continued performing as a solo singer-guitarist at small clubs in Osaka.

After returning to the U.S. he eventually became a flight attendant for a major carrier, retiring in late 2020 after 25 years of service.

He continues to write and record his original songs, many of which are available for listening and viewing on YouTube.

Johnny studied Japanese in Japan and lived there for ten years. He married his native Japanese wife in a traditional ceremony at a Shinto Shrine near her home there soon after he arrived in Japan in 1974. In addition to teaching English in Osaka, he performed weekly at local bars as a solo singer-guitarist. He translated Japanese manga to English for Kodansha, a large Japanese publishing company, years before they became popular in the west. From 1995 to 2021, he was a Japanese Language Qualified Flight Attendant for a large international airline. He retired in 2021 after 25 years at the age of 71.
