Biography

John R. Watson was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. However, while he was still a baby, his parents moved down to North Carolina where he spent the remainder of his upbringing. He attended North Mecklenburg High School in Charlotte, North Carolina and then Davidson College where he majored in Theatre. Soon after graduating he started doing commercial work and appearing on the local televised singing competition "Gimme the Mic, Charlotte!" After this he decided to move to New York to further pursue his acting career.

John is known for Rent: The Broadway Tour (2009), the Dungeon Dads Podcast (2020) and Christy (2025).
