- Izzy Young was born on March 26, 1928 in Manhattan, New York City, New York, USA. He was an actor, known for Det finns inga smålänningar (1981), Evil Ed (1995) and Folklore Center Blues (2017). He died on February 4, 2019 in Stockholm, Sweden.
- He was a folk music impresario who was influential in the Greenwich Village scene in the 1960s. In 1957, he opened the Folklore Center, where fans and folk musicians could find everything from old sheet music to obscure music books. He organized Bob Dylan's first major concert outside of Greenwich Village, a performance at Carnegie Chapter Hall, a small venue connected to Carnegie Hall. He also helped John Sebastian and Peter, Paul, and Mary, among others.
- In 1973, he moved to Stockholm, enamored of Swedish music. He opened a new music shop, the Folklore Centrum, which closed in 2018.
- Owner from 1957 of the Folklore Center in NYC and founder of the Folklore Centrum, he is the father of Philomène Grandin.
- Grew up in New York City's Lower Eastside, first living on Ludlow Street, before moving to The Bronx.
