- Broadcaster, economist and diplomat. The son of Douglas Jay and his first wife Peggy Jay. He presented "Weekend World" for LWT, prior to his appointment as the British Ambassador to Washington in 1977. His first father-in-law was the former British Prime Minister James Callaghan. He later served the late Robert Maxwell as his Chief of Staff and the BBC as its Economic editor.
