**Hemen Khaledi** is a Kurdish filmmaker from Shno, Kurdistan, whose work explores human stories shaped by identity, migration, family, and the profound connection between people and place. He began his professional career as an assistant director before moving into writing and directing.
His debut feature documentary, *Singing Wings* (2025), premiered at the Busan International Film Festival, where it received the BIFF Mecenat Award for Asia, and later won the Charles E. Guggenheim Emerging Artist Award at the 2026 Full Frame Documentary Film Festival.
Set in rural Kurdistan, *Singing Wings* transforms a deeply local story into a universal exploration of migration, belonging, and family. Khaledi is developing a distinctive body of work rooted in culturally specific stories with strong international resonance.
