Biography

Alison Fast is a Peabody-Award winning Director/Producer, who has worked for networks such as NBC, PBS, BBC Worldwide, and MTV Networks in Los Angeles.

Since 2006, she has led media training workshops internationally through Barefoot Workshops in the context of HIV/AIDS, democracy-building, and conflict resolution. She has trained more than sixty organizations across the U.S., South Africa and the MENA region to produce education and advocacy films, including some of the first citizen-produced content in Libya leading up to free elections.

Presently, she is producing a collection of forty short films to promote revitalization and small town solutions in the rural south through her production company, Blue Magnolia Films.

Her most recent documentary, "Will To Change", addresses root causes of gang violence and recidivism and is being used by Mississippi Department of Corrections and community leaders in the Mississippi Delta.

"American Dinka" (in production), is the story of a Lost Girl of Sudan, who returns to her country after decades of war, to reclaim her family legacy and become a voice for women and girls.

Her goal is "transformative storytelling" within people, and across communities. She enjoys working as a media consultant, strategic content producer, and social innovator.

In 2015, she released her first children's book, "Marigold and the Faraway Tree" (Penguin Random House).
