Panagiotis Arfanis was a Greek chemist and educator. Born in Athens, he studied Chemistry at the University of Athens and went on to work both in the private sector and in education. After a successful career as a technical consultant and sales coordinator in the chemical industry, he became a permanent public educator in 1998, teaching chemistry for over two decades, most notably at the 1st Vocational High School of Argyroupolis. Known for his expertise in water treatment technologies and his commitment to advancing science education, he also published technical articles in the 1980s and took part in numerous seminars and conferences.
He was married to Katerina Veliziotou, daughter of Aris Veliziotis, the celebrated Greek singer, songwriter, and lyricist best known as the frontman of the band Acropols. Through this artistic lineage, Panagiotis became the father of filmmaker Christos Arfanis, continuing a legacy that bridges science, music, and cinema across generations.
