As a Mexico City´s survivor PORTES has developed an unique style between horror and comedy. In 2025 DON’T LEAVE THE KIDS ALONE premiered at the 54th Rotterdam Film Fest and was awarded at Festivals as Macabro, RojoSangre, Grimmfest, Brooklyn Horror, ScreamFest L.A., Sitges. In 2026 won at Gerardmer and Fantsporto, too. In 2019 his disturbing tale about possessed religious icons BELZEBUTH won 2 ARIEL AWARDS from the Mexican Film Academy and was the 5th most watched premier at SHUDDER. In AMAZON PRIME LATAM it ran for 5 years and now it haunts subscribers on NETFLIX and HBO LATAM. His oddball THE POPCORN CHRONICLES was the 8th most watched Mexican film of 2015. In 2019, his Christmas Carol about Cops vs. Exorcists, PASTORELA won 7 Ariel Awards and became a winter classic. In 2009, his circus extravaganza MEET THE HEAD OF JUAN PÉREZ won 4 Ariel Awards and Best 1st Film at Guadalajara´s Film Fest. Currently he directs and writes for hire, while looking for the financing his next film adventure.
