Biography

Liz Catchings was born in San Antonio, Texas, to David Catchings, an outdoorsman, and Andrea Barry, a music teacher. Her ancestry is namely Western and Northern European. Catchings began acting at age 5 onstage in local theatre productions, enrolling in dancing and singing classes a few years later. She attended Albemarle High School where she earned various awards for her competing theatre company, including multiple best actress awards at the Virginia Theatre Association and a costume design award for Lin Manuel Miranda’s "In the Heights," which Miranda himself helped to judge and coordinate.

Upon completing high school she enrolled at Texas State University, recognized as one of the top drama schools in the world. In 2022 Catchings graduated with a BFA in Performance and Production and a minor in Exercise and Sports Science. She would continue her theatre education until her graduation in 2022, and just two weeks later was offered her first professional acting job in the regional premiere of "A Beautiful Day In November on the Banks of the Greatest of the Great Lakes" starring as "@."

Catchings made her professional on-camera debut in "Agents Undercover Love," filmed in early 2024 in Qingdao, China. This would set off somewhat of a love affair between the actress and location shoots in China, having traveled to the country to film multiple times for upwards of fifteen series.

In November 2025, Catchings wrote and sold her first screenplay, which was promptly produced that same month and released in December of the same year, adding "writer" to her growing resume. In 2025 Catchings was cast in her feature film debut, "The Road that Holds Us." Quickly brought on as an executive producer to the film, she began to explore work behind the camera.

Liz Catchings resides in Los Angeles, California. She has been signed by Ad Astra Talent Management and is represented by her manager, Steven Buchsbaum. In addition to acting, she is professionally recognized as a writer and producer.
