Biography

Born in Edinburgh, trained in London. Nicola Roy is considered "One of Scotlands leading comic actresses" (Joyce McMillan, The Scotsman 2020.) Whilst this may be true Roy has shown her versatility in serious television roles for the BBC and Shed Productions. Her theatre work has taken her across the main stages of Scotland and further including the National, recently scoring an international success winning the critics circle award in Liz Lochheads Tartuffe which took her to Australia

Nicola Roy is also the host and creator of arts the podcast the Cultural Coven in association with the Lyceum theatre and the Stephen Dunn Theatre fund. The Cultural Coven was recently the Times Newspaper 'Podcast of the Week. Roy interviews leading Scottish arts and cultural figures that she has worked with including Ricky Ross, Alan Cumming, Sam Heughan, Elaine C Smith, Iain Rankin and Liz Lochhead. It has been cited in Hello Magazine, and praised by the First Minister of Scotland Nicola Sturgeon
