Biography

Roy Williams was born on January 6, 1968 in London, England, UK. He is a writer, known for Bess Loves Porgy (2023), Offside (2002) and Soon Gone: A Windrush Chronicle (2019).

He was awarded the OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) in the 2008 Queen's Birthday Honours List for his services to drama.

He was awarded the 2001 London Evening Standard Theatre Award for Most Promising Playwright for Clubland performed at the Royal Court Theatre.

His play, Fallout, performed at the Royal Court Theatre Downstairs, was nominated for a Best Play at the 2003 London Evening Standards Theatre Award.
