Sheri Hagen is a producer, director, screenwriter, and actress based in Berlin. She first attracted attention in 2007 with her short film Stella und die Störche (Stella and the Storks), a children's film that was screened at several international festivals, including the Mo&Friese KinderKurzFilmFestival in Hamburg and the Chicago International Children's Film Festival.
In 2012, she received the special prize "Ein Schreibtisch am Meer" ("A Desk by the Sea") at the 23rd International Filmfest Emden-Norderney for her debut feature Auf den zweiten Blick (At Second Glance). In 2013, the film won the 4th Kirchen Filmfestival Recklinghausen and was later released in German cinemas by Barnsteiner-Film.
In 2015, Hagen founded the production company Equality Film GmbH. The company was established with the mission of producing films that reflect a complex and diverse society through bold and relevant storytelling.
In 2016, she directed Fenster Blau, an adaptation of Muttermale Fenster Blau by author Sasha Marianna Salzmann. The feature film Billie followed.
In 2023, Equality Film and Sheri Hagen were recognized by the German Federal Government as a "Cultural and Creative Pilot." In 2024, her feature project Motherhood was selected for the Berlinale EFM Fiction Toolbox program with support from the Austrian Film Institute. That same year, she received the Digital Female Leader Award (DFLX24). Additional projects in development include the series Kehinde, which received funding from HessenFilm & Medien.
