Co-founded Perfect Songs musical publishing company with husband, Trevor Horn, in 1982.

On 25 June 2006, her son Aaron was practicing with his air rifle, not realizing his mother was close by. A .22 pellet accidentally hit her in the neck, severing an artery and causing major brain damage. She was in a deep coma for three years and was unable to communicate or move until her death from cancer on 22 March 2014.
