Biography

On January 14, 2020, in the hall of the National Theater "Kotopouli-Rex", the Mutual Aid Fund of the Greek Actors' Union (T.A.S.E.I.), awarded Kaiti Voutsaki "for her work, her presence, and for the promotion of Greece in the international arena" with an honorary diploma.

In 1946, Kaiti Voutsaki settled with her family in Cairo, and continued her dance studies initially at the school of the Russian ballerina Sonia Ivanova, where both Tahia Karioka and Samia Gamal studied dance, and then at the dance school of the German Nichols, where she was taught European dances and acrobatics. In the same year, director Abdel Fattah Hassan gave her the opportunity to appear for the first time in Egyptian cinema, in a dance number, in the film Al Ghirat.

In the 1970s she lived in England where she was married to an RAF pilot and came to Greece only for her artistic commitments. Since she became a widow, she left England and, until her death, lived permanently in Athens.

From the age of 6-7 (when she was orphaned by her father), she began studying ballet, tap dancing, and acrobatics at various schools, the most important of which was the Nichols School ("Les Ballets d'Alexandrie" by the German Frieda Nichols), which was initially based in Alexandria and later moved to Cairo .

In the film Ismail Yassine's Ghost, the Lebanese singer Mohamed Salman performs a very cheerful and poetic song written especially for her, entitled: "Welcome Kitty" in which she dances at the head of a large female dance group.
