Roan is a multi-hyphenate artist raised in the hospitality worlds of the Bay Area and New Orleans by chef parents. Now based in Los Angeles, she makes films that weave practical magic into grounded human stories and marginalized histories.
After seven years of conservatory-style performance training at Oakland School for the Arts, she graduated with honors from UCLA's Film and Television department. As an Independent Producer, she draws on a deep background in line production and production management to shepherd ambitious underdog films from concept to screen. By day, she pursues work in programming and events, primarily Film Independent, helping cultivate spaces for filmmakers and audiences to connect.
Her filmic works have been recognized by several international festivals, including Flickers' Rhode Island, LA Shorts, and DisOrient. She holds an honor for Outstanding Artistic Contributions from the United Nations Association of the USA, San Francisco.
