  • Debra A. Wilson made her national debut with her film Butch Mystique, which she directed, wrote and produced. The film screened in more than 30 film festivals worldwide and won Jury and Audience Awards as well as Showtime's Black Filmmakers Showcase. After receiving a grant from Showtime she directed her next documentary Jumpin' the Broom: The New Covenant, that premiered on Showtime, and aired on Logo.

    Debra has spent much of her career working in the Bay Area in her role as location manager. She has worked on such projects as MILK, Contagion, The Master, Fruitvale Station, Looking, Sense8, 13 Reasons Why, and Blindspotting. Debra received the 2013 Location Team of the Year Award for Fruitvale Station.

    Debra co-produced Tina Mabry's award-winning feature film Mississippi Damned, which amassed an impressive 11 awards and aired on Showtime and streamed on Netflix. In 2012 she produced the short Crossover, and in 2014 produced her second short Ant for ITVS Futurestates. In 2015, she was a BAVC Media National MediaMaker Fellow, and in 2018 she was an SF FilmHouse Resident. She is currently working on her first feature documentary Beyond the Butch Mystique. Debra has directed numerous corporate, promo and branding videos.
