- In August of 1925 he and cowboy bit-player Tom Bay got into an argument after a night of drinking in a Hollywood hotel. Allegedly, he pulled a knife on Bay, who pulled out a gun and shot him to death. Bay was tried for murder but acquitted. Ironically, eight years later, in 1933, Bay himself would be shot and killed during an argument with his girlfriend.
