Biography

Graham Streeter is an award-winning American filmmaker known for crafting emotionally compelling stories that explore the complexities of human behavior and marginalized identities. He is the founder of Imperative Pictures, under which he has written and directed numerous internationally recognized feature films and documentaries.

Streeter's most recent feature, Unfix (2023), confronts the harrowing realities of conversion therapy in America. The film garnered multiple accolades, including Best Director at the Madrid International Film Festival and Best Feature at Out On Film (Atlanta), and continues to screen globally as a conversation-driving work on LGBTQ+ rights.

Previous works include:

I May Regret (2018), which won the Grand Prix Vienna Independent Film Festival, and was nominated for multiple awards across Europe and North America for its gripping portrayal of dementia and personal regret.

Imperfect Sky (2016), a raw look at the opioid crisis and sibling dynamics, praised for its authenticity and emotional depth.

Blind Malice (2013), a psychological thriller centered on a blind girl and a home invasion, distributed worldwide.

The acclaimed documentary Boys in Peril (2013), exploring themes of identity, trauma, and resilience among at-risk youth, widely used in academic settings.

His breakout feature, Cages (2006), starring Oscar-nominated actor Mako Iwamatsu, was distributed across Asia by MediaCorp and recognized for its cross-cultural storytelling and strong performances.

Beyond narrative cinema, Streeter made his mark in the commercial space, notably directing the original in-house prototype video for the Apple iPod Nano (1-2-3-4 featuring Feist) and early iPhone ad prototypes under Chiat/Day Advertising.

Raised between California and Japan, Streeter spent nearly a decade living in Japan, where he worked in television before returning to the U.S. to pursue film. He holds dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in International Business Administration and Japanese Language.

Streeter continues to develop narrative films with social relevance, pushing boundaries through both visual style and subject matter, and works in partnership with Executive Producer Alex Lebosq at Imperative Pictures.
