- Fernanda Sumita is a Brazilian actor and the first in her family to immigrate to the United States. She graduated from the Conservatory Program at the Terry Knickerbocker Studio in New York in 2024. Prior to that, she spent four years in Berlin studying theater studies and anthropology at the Free University of Berlin while pursuing her acting career. Sumita's first leading role came in the German film Irgendwann - One Hour or Another, in which she explored themes of loneliness and isolation in a new country, weaving personal narrative with fiction. The film went on to screen at festivals throughout the US and Europe. In 2026, she made her directorial debut with the short film Break a Leg, in which she also starred, a story about two actresses competing for the same role and the lengths they're willing to go to win it. Fernanda Sumita hopes her work will transcend borders, reflect the human condition, and stand as a tribute to those who supported her dreams, especially her grandmother.
