- Yuri's performing career began in the former Soviet Union, where he traveled the country and much of Eastern Europe performing with the music and comedy group Limpopo. His talents include the accordion (bayan), guitar, vocals, and amazing acrobatics. Since 1991, Limpopo has been performing throughout the United States and Canada wowing crowds of all ages with Russian melodies, dancing and humorous renditions of American favorites.
Yuri's journey to Los Angeles began when he left a small village in Siberia at the age of 18 to serve in the Soviet army in East Germany. When he completed his military service, Yuri moved to Moscow to begin his University studies. Shortly thereafter, Limpopo formed which soon put an end to Yuri's studies as the band's popularity grew. But it was Limpopo's participation in a 1988 Soviet-American Peace Walk in the Ukraine which broadened Limpopo's horizons. Yuri and the group quickly made the necessary contacts to complete the journey to the United States.
